The Port of Seattle and HMSHost are sponsoring the eighth annual charity golf tournament at the luxurious Fairwood Golf & Country Club, to benefit the Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence. The Highline Schools Fund for Excellence is a private, non-profit foundation formed to benefit the schools, teachers and students of the Highline School District. Proceeds from this tournament provide funds for student scholarships.
Highline School District serves the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, White Center and small areas of Tukwila and Kent. Fifty-three percent of the students participate in the Free & Reduced lunch program. Nine percent are ELL (English Language Learners). Highline School District students speak 70 different languages representing 80 countries. Fifty-six percent of students belong to a minority population.
Last year, the Port of Seattle and HMS Host raised nearly $68,000 for the Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence.
